ABT Electrical Services Ltd works as an electrician in Hixon, covering the village, the industrial estate, Amerton, Drointon and the surrounding farms. Hixon is roughly seven miles north-east of our Stafford base off the A51.
Hixon is unusual among the villages we cover because it has a substantial commercial side alongside the housing. That means our work here splits fairly evenly between domestic rewires, boards and lighting on one hand, and fixed wire testing, three phase work and industrial lighting on the other.
Choosing an electrician in Hixon
Working both sides of Hixon – houses in the village and units on the estate – means we are used to switching between domestic certification and commercial fixed wire testing. They are different regimes with different paperwork, and mixing them up is a common way for a business to end up with a certificate that does not cover what it needs to.
We are NAPIT registered and test to BS 7671. Domestic notifiable work is registered under Part P; commercial installations get the periodic inspection report and schedules your insurer and your health and safety file will expect.
Quotations are free, given in writing and carry no obligation. Electrical Safety First publishes independent guidance on choosing a registered electrician if you want to check us against it.
Domestic and commercial work side by side
The village itself is mostly post-war and later housing with a scattering of older property and farms around the edges. Domestically the work is what you would expect: consumer unit upgrades where the original board has no RCD protection, additional sockets and lighting circuits, EV chargers, and EICRs for sales and rentals.
Hixon Industrial Estate, on the site of the former airfield, is a different job entirely. Light industrial and warehouse units need periodic fixed wire testing rather than domestic EICRs, three phase distribution, machine supplies, emergency and escape lighting, and high-bay or linear LED lighting schemes that actually suit the working height of the building.
Relighting a workshop or warehouse is one of the most worthwhile jobs a commercial occupier can do. Replacing old fluorescent or discharge fittings with properly specified LED cuts the running cost and the maintenance, and in a building with a high roof the maintenance saving alone is usually the bigger number.
We can work outside normal hours on commercial premises where an outage during production would be expensive, and we will always tell you honestly how long the supply needs to be off.
For farms around Amerton and Drointon the requirements are different again: three phase supplies, long runs to outbuildings, and equipment rated for dust, damp and livestock.
Whether you need an electrician in Hixon for a house or for a unit on the estate, the work is tested and certified either way.
