What full and part rewires in Stafford involve
Rewiring is disruptive work done properly rather than quickly, and it follows the same sequence every time. We survey the existing installation, agree the position of every socket, switch and light with you, then run the first fix cabling before plaster and floors go back. Second fix follows: accessories on, board connected, then a full set of tests before the installation is energised and certified.
Because we agree the layout with you at the start, you get sockets where you actually use them rather than where the old ones happened to be. It is far cheaper to add a socket at first fix than to come back for it later.

Part rewires
Not every property needs everything replaced. A part rewire updates the circuits that need it and leaves sound ones alone, which keeps the cost and the mess down. It suits kitchen and bathroom refits, loft conversions, extensions, garage and outbuilding supplies, and properties where earlier work has already replaced some of the installation.
We will tell you honestly which of the two you need. If a part rewire will do the job, that is what we will quote for.
Signs a property needs rewiring
- Rubber, fabric or lead sheathed cable, or cable that crumbles when moved
- A fuse box with rewireable fuses instead of circuit breakers
- No earth conductor at the lighting points
- Round pin sockets, or too few sockets for how the rooms are used
- Scorch marks, warm accessories or a persistent burning smell
- Breakers or fuses that trip repeatedly with no obvious cause
None of these on its own proves a rewire is needed, and we would rather not sell you one you do not need. An EICR report gives you a documented answer: any C1 or C2 code identifies work that has to be done, and the report tells you whether that means targeted repairs or a full rewire.
Certification and Part P notification
Rewiring a dwelling is notifiable work in England and Wales under Approved Document P of the Building Regulations. As a registered installer we self certify the work and notify building control, so you receive both the Electrical Installation Certificate with its schedule of test results and the building regulations compliance certificate. Keep both: conveyancing solicitors ask for them, and so do insurers after a claim.

Working around you
Most customers stay in the property while we work. We tackle it room by room, keep power on to the areas we are not working in wherever it is safe, tell you in advance which days will have planned outages, and sheet up and clear up as we go. Where a property is empty the job usually runs faster and we will say so in the quotation.
